Isabella Vodos Bio

I am Isabella Vodos, and I am a graduate of California State University Northridge (CSUN). I have a major in journalism with an emphasis in public relations and have also taken courses in entertainment management. I am a very detail-oriented, organized, and a creative student in search of opportunities where I can enhance my writing, communication, and creative skills.

I am currently a social media assistant for the Strategic Communications and Brand Management department at CSUN where I primarily focus on strategic planning, campaigning, caption copyrighting for the CSUN Newsroom, and content creation. During my time at CSUN, I pulled trendy clips from Tik Tok and Instagram for the University’s page @CSUN_edu, tracked KPI’s for the Giving Day campaign, created digital flyers of CSUN events weekly to inform students of campus activities, and covered events on IG story.

I previously worked as a staff reporter for the Valley Star Newspaper, where I wrote profiles, opinions, and features for the section “Valley Life.” I pitched stories every week to the editors , interviewed staff and faculty, and researched various material to support each individual story I was assigned.

After my internship at the Valley Star, I created my own blog on Medium where I wrote about the migration to America for Soviet Union immigrants followed by a podcast and wrote a blog for Agency 398 on why musicians need publicists. I also contributed two stories for the Daily Sundial and wrote about student film productions that were showcased after they were cancelled due to the pandemic and a Meet the Clubs story, inviting students to check out the event. Other duties I fulfilled, was working with Socal Sound, a non profit radio station and promoting their live sessions with various emerging artists, writing press releases, and contributing promotional strategies to promote upcoming shows for Arlo Parks and John Mayer.

I am also a chapter member of CSUN’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), where I network with public relations professionals, act in social media posts, and collaborate with other executive board members to add my creative inputs for campaigns.

I have years of experience of writing stories and publishing them, as I was a part of numerous journalism classes including Writing for Public Relations, Engaging Diverse Communities, History of American News Media, Media Law, Multimedia Journalism, Agency 398 Practicum, Public Relations Campaigns, and Public Relations Management. Through these courses I wrote a vast amount of research papers, news articles, announcement releases, and delivered strategic mock campaigns.
